Accommodations: All accommodations are junior suites, and all boast hydro-massage bathtubs, king-size or paired double beds, sitting areas with sofas (some with sofa-beds), flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, air-conditioning, in-room safes, hairdryers, phones, mini-bars and liquor dispensers (restocked daily), and irons/ironing boards. All but 16 suites have private balconies or terraces. Inter-connecting suites, suites with second bedrooms, and suites with Jacuzzis on their balconies are available. Decor is a chic, minimalist take on Spanish colonial, with tile floors, warm tones and white trim, and dark polished wood. Be sure to request a room with an ocean view.
Dining & Entertainment: Unlimited snacks, drinks (both local and imported beverages), and room service are available 24-hours a day. La Peninsula is the buffet, open for all meals and hosting themed dinners 3 nights a week. Four specialty restaurants serve dinner a la carte: Krystal offers fusion cuisine, Guacamole serves Mexican, Kyoto specializes in Japanese, and La Toscana is a poolside grill and steakhouse. Drinks are served at 5 bars, including a sports bar, a lounge with a terrace, and a poolside bar with a swim-up bar. Entertainment includes daily/nightly shows and events, and live music. Guests can also enjoy complimentary entrance and drinks at the nightclubs at Riu Jalisco and Riu Vallarta, each about 5 minutes away.
Recreation: When you want to relax, grab a lounge chair on the sundeck or the beach and work on your tan, and when you really want to indulge, head to the spa, which offers a full menu of treatments, massages, and salon services. There's also a gym, sauna, and a Jacuzzi. Another Jacuzzi adjoins the pool. For a more active day, join a game of beach volleyball, and try water sports like kayaking, snorkeling, and sailing. You can take a free intro scuba class in the pool, but additional classes and dives cost extra. Motorized water sports, horseback riding, and golf are all available nearby. Kids have a playground, mini-club, and children's pool.
